2 people killed, 9 rescued after landslide in China's Guangzhou

Nine of the 14 people trapped due to a landslide in Dayuan village in Baiyun district of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, have been extracted as of Wednesday evening, according to local emergency management authorities.

Among the rescued people, two were confirmed dead, with seven injured.

Search and rescue efforts are still underway, as 153 firefighters worked overnight at the landslide site in Dayuan village.

Due to continuous heavy rainfall, the landslide occurred around 8:30 am in Dayuan, damaging houses, authorities said in a news release on Wednesday.
