Now that its deck paving is complete, the world's highest bridge is on track to open in Southwest China's Guizhou province by the end of September.

At the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, workers have finished sandblasting and applying anti-corrosion coating on the 38,000-square-meter steel deck and have installed a 7-centimeter-thick asphalt concrete layer weighing more than 7,000 metric tons. The process took about one month to complete.

The construction team erected mobile windbreak shelters to keep coating work on schedule during the volatile summer weather, which often brings strong winds and heavy rain.

Local media reported that the project was 98 percent complete as of July 15.
