BEIRUT - A member of Lebanon's Hezbollah was killed Saturday in an Israeli drone strike on southeastern Lebanon, according to Lebanese sources.
The strike on a house in the town of Khiam resulted in the death of one person, the Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Health said in a press release.
A source from the Lebanese Civil Defense and the Lebanese Red Cross told Xinhua that the body was transported to the Marjayoun Governmental Hospital, whereas a Lebanese security source told Xinhua the dead was a Hezbollah member identified as Wissam Abu Abbas.

In a separate development, Lebanon's official National News Agency reported that the Israeli army "released dozens of cattle from its side of the border into Lebanese territory, toward the villages of Ramyeh, Aita al-Shaab, and Bayt Lif in the western sector of southern Lebanon."
Bayt Lif Mayor Izzat Hammoud warned that local residents should not approach or touch the cows, "as there is a possibility they are contaminated with biological weapons or carry infectious diseases."

These incidents come despite a ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel, brokered by the United States and France, which has been in effect since Nov 27, 2024. The deal aims to end over a year of cross-border hostilities triggered by the war in Gaza.
Nevertheless, the Israeli military continues to carry out occasional strikes in Lebanon, which it claims are intended to eliminate "Hezbollah threats."
