PYONGYANG - The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) held a key meeting focusing on economy from Saturday to Monday, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Tuesday.
According to the report, the Enlarged Meeting of the 12th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK was held with WPK General Secretary Kim Jong-un presiding over the event.

The plenary meeting was convened to conduct the interim review of the implementation of the major party and state policies for this year, to reconfirm the keynote of the work for the second half of the year and to discuss and decide on the issues arising in the course of expanding and deepening short-, intermediate- and long-range plans for economic construction, the KCNA said.
The plenary meeting heard reports on the successes made in all fields of the socialist construction, including politics, economy, culture, science, education and national defense, examined and approved strategic adjustment of a series of the party and state policy tasks and implementation proposals, according to the KCNA report.

The plenary meeting unanimously approved a decision on convening the 9th congress of the WPK, discussed and decided on the issues of radically accelerating the revitalization and modernization of major industrial sectors of the national economy, it said.
