China beats Czech Republic on VNL Hong Kong leg opening day

HONG KONG - China on Wednesday won its opening match at the Hong Kong, China leg of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League, defeating the Czech Republic by 3-1 at the Kai Tak Sports Park.

The Chinese women's volleyball team claimed a hard-fought first set, edging out the Czechs 29-27. The Czech team responded in the second set, winning 25-23. However, China regrouped and dominated the third set 25-15, before sealing the victory with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.

The team is scheduled to face Bulgaria on Thursday, Japan on Saturday, and Italy on Sunday.

Ahead of the tournament, team memebers held an autograph session last Sunday as a warm-up activity, engaging with fans in Hong Kong. Supporters showed their enthusiasm by bringing jerseys, volleyballs, figurines, and towels to be signed by their favorite players.

The Hong Kong, China leg of the 2025 Volleyball Women's Nations League features six of the world’s top women’s teams, competing in 12 matches over five days from June 18 to June 22.
