China welcomes Vietnam's new role as a BRICS partner, saying that its participation would not only benefit its own development but also serve the common interests of BRICS nations and the Global South.
BRICS Chair Brazil has issued a media announcement confirming Vietnam's accession as a BRICS partner.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Monday that it's believed that Vietnam would make positive contributions to the BRICS mechanism.

The BRICS family's expansion marks a significant enhancement of the mechanism's representativeness, further amplifying its appeal and global influence, Guo said at a daily news briefing.
China stands ready to work with all BRICS members and partner countries to make greater contributions to upholding multilateralism, defending fairness and justice, and promoting common development, he added.
