The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government on Monday initiated public consultation on Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu’s new policy address, scheduled to be delivered in September, inviting residents to share their views on the city’s future development.

“My team and I will listen to and consider your views carefully, and we look forward to receiving your input to build a better Hong Kong together,” Lee said in a statement issued on Monday.

The statement said that the government plans to conduct more than 40 consultation sessions with Legislative Council members, industry representatives, and members of the public.

Additionally, Lee and other principal officials will visit districts to engage directly with residents.

Residents can submit their views through the Policy Address website (www.policyaddress.gov.hk), the dedicated Facebook page for the Policy Address public consultation, or by email (policyaddress@cepu.gov.hk), phone (2432 1899) or fax (2537 9083).

The chief executive highlighted the government’s efforts to leverage its advantages under the “one country, two systems” framework and cultivate a results-oriented and proactive governance culture, endeavoring to explore new growth areas and trade markets, deepen international exchanges, and enhance regional collaboration, to foster new economic momentum.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by economic restructuring, Lee said: “The government will continue to lead all sectors of society in consolidating and enhancing the factors for Hong Kong’s success while upholding our principles and being innovative in advancing reforms.”

“We are committed to developing the economy and improving people's livelihoods to ensure our initiatives effectively respond to the needs of members of the public,” Lee added.
