China always honors and delivers what has been promised, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said, calling on both China and the United States to follow what has been agreed to in their trade talks in London.

Lin made the remarks on Thursday after the two countries held the first meeting of China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism in the British capital earlier this week.

The meeting was held under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries, Lin emphasized.

He hopes the US cooperate with China to implement key consensus reached by the two heads of state in their phone conversation earlier this month.

The spokesman also called for US cooperation in letting the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism play its role, and enhancing common understandings and reducing misunderstandings through communication.
