Hong Kong’s Labour Day celebrations kicked off in grand style as Sino Group’s Gold Coast Hydrangea Festival officially opened on Thursday. Held at the Hong Kong Gold Coast, the five-day event blends natural beauty, cultural creativity, and vibrant entertainment, attracting locals and tourists alike. The festival, themed around hydrangeas, is part of the government’s “Tourism is everywhere in Hong Kong” initiative, showcasing Tuen Mun as a must-visit destination.
The festival’s highlight, the “Love in the Sky Drone Show,” lit up the night sky with a stunning display of 1,288 drones. Over 15 minutes, the drones depicted 12 dazzling scenes, including iconic landmarks such as Victoria Harbour, the Big Buddha, and the Gold Coast. Themed hydrangea motifs bloomed in the air, eventually transforming into fluttering butterflies, mesmerizing the crowd. Accompanied by a rousing soundtrack, the performance left spectators in awe.
At the opening ceremony, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak praised the festival for energizing the local community and promoting tourism. She emphasized the event’s role in providing a platform for young people to showcase their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, fostering cultural and economic growth in the region.
The Gold Coast has been transformed into 'Hydrangea Town,' featuring over 10,000 hydrangeas across two major attractions. The 120-meter-long Hydrangea Promenade along the waterfront offers picturesque photo opportunities, while the Hydrangea Water Garden provides a tranquil retreat surrounded by reflective pools and vibrant blooms.
The Gold Coast Hydrangea Festival, running until May 5, invites everyone to celebrate the Labour Day holiday in a unique and memorable way.
