WASHINGTON - LeBron James notched his first triple-double of the season in the Los Angeles Lakers' 129-123 victory over the New York Knicks in overtime on Tuesday.

James had 28 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, surpassing both Mark Jackson and Steve Nash to move into fourth on the all-time assists leaderboard. The Lakers star is the first NBA player to record a triple-double in his 20th season.

James now tallies 38,299 points, just 89 points away from breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record as the all-time leading points scorer.

Anthony Davis helped with 27 points, and new signing Rui Hachimura added 19 points and nine rebounds. Russell Westbrook scored 17 points off the bench.

James hit a 3-pointer with 1:41 remaining in the fourth to put Los Angeles ahead 114-108, while Knicks guard Jalen Brunson, who finished with a game-high 37 points, led a 6-0 run afterward to send the game to the extra session.

Powered by Giannis Antetokounmpo's 34 points and 18 rebounds, the Milwaukee Bucks outplayed the Charlotte Hornets 124-115 for their fifth straight victory.

Five Bucks players finished in double digits, including Khris Middleton's 18 points and Jrue Holiday's 15.

Milwaukee remain in second place in the Eastern Conference with a win-loss record of 34-17.

In Tuesday's other fixtures, the Miami Heat scored a hard-fought 100-97 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Los Angeles Clippers recorded a 108-103 win over the Chicago Bulls, and the Denver Nuggets got past the New Orleans Pelicans 122-113.
