I am an old friend of the hard-working China Daily Hong Kong staff, who have never failed to send me an invitation to your anniversary celebrations and other important functions. Looking back, I must say CDHK has made numerous contributions to the nation’s development as well as the faithful and accurate implementation of “one country, two systems”.

In the last two years alone, CDHK has collaborated with our organization — The Hong Kong Coalition — several times, co-hosting high-level forums attended by distinguished foreign friends, scholars and guests from across the social spectrum to exchange ideas concerning various great causes, including the Belt and Road Initiative, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development plan, and many other important international/regional affairs, all of which are designed to show the world the real China, including Hong Kong.

This year we work together on turning over a new page in Hong Kong as the city goes all-out in revitalizing the economy despite the lingering COVID-19 pandemic. At this crucial juncture, I wholeheartedly expect CDHK to continue expanding its unique influence on the international stage as well as among business and professional communities around the globe. I am confident that CDHK will spare no efforts in promoting the peaceful development of the Chinese nation, including Hong Kong, and elevating our self-decision and narrative power.
