Chinese, Costa Rican foreign ministers hail 15 years of ties

BEIJING – Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Costa Rican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship Arnoldo Andre Tinoco on Wednesday exchanged congratulatory messages on the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Over the past 15 years, under the care and guidance of the two countries’ leaders, China-Costa Rica relations have been progressing steadily with fruitful cooperation in various fields, and the two sides have maintained sound communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, he added.

China attaches great importance to its ties with Costa Rica and stands ready to work with Costa Rica to take the 15th anniversary as an opportunity to further strengthen political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, improve the well-being of the people in the two countries and continuously enrich their bilateral strategic partnership, Wang said.

For his part, Andre said that since the two countries blazed the trail of mutual trust 15 years ago, they have maintained good communication and cooperation in regional and international affairs, with cooperation in various fields yielding fruitful results.

The Costa Rica-China strategic partnership is an ideal platform for the two countries to maintain collaboration on issues of common concern and to jointly tackle thorny international issues, he said.

Costa Rica is firmly committed to further enhancing mutual trust and deepening practical cooperation with China, so as to benefit the people of the two countries, he added.
