Bellerin keen to extend Betis stay rather than return to Arsenal

MADRID - Hector Bellerin says he wants to stay at La Liga club Real Betis rather than return to Arsenal for next season.

Hector Bellerin has completed a successful season on loan with Betis from Arsenal, helping them finish fifth in La Liga and win the Copa del Rey, and speaking in Spanish newspaper Diario AS, the right-back expressed his desire to stay in the south of Spain

"I have spoken to both clubs and I made my position clear. We have two months to try to make it work out for the best for all of us," said the defender.

"I made an effort to come here (to Betis) and I am willing to make whatever effort is needed so that this continues as my home because I am happy here," he added.

Bellerin joined Arsenal from Barcelona in 2013 and has made 239 appearances for the club.

"I had some very good times at Arsenal and they gave me a lot. When I talk about Betis, I bear in mind how good Arsenal was for many years. It is a tough moment to leave Arsenal, but I hope everything works out well," added Bellerin.

"I really enjoyed last year. I have had a few days to reflect on this season and prepare for what comes next. I want to be here, although it is not as easy as that. We will see what happens this summer, I hope I can stay," he continued.

"It is a great locker room here, I have made a lot of friends and everything has passed very quickly, which is a sign that I have enjoyed myself," commented Bellerin.
