HONG KONG – A delegation of mainland athletes who brought honor to the nation during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will visit Hong Kong from Dec 3 to 5, a government spokesman said Thursday.
In a statement issued on Thursday afternoon, a Home Affairs Bureau spokesman said that the mainland delegation, composed of 29 athletes and three coaches from 12 sports events, will visit the SAR to meet with members of the public.
The visiting athletes include Olympic gold medalists Ma Long (table tennis), Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping (badminton) and Hou Zhihui (weightlifting)

“The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government is extremely grateful to the COC (Chinese Olympic Committee) for sending the delegation to visit Hong Kong and meet members of the public in Hong Kong,” the spokesman was quoted as saying in the statement.
He said the delegation will attend a reception and banquet hosted by the HKSAR government after their arrival and visit the Hong Kong Sports Institute to exchange with Hong Kong athletes.
They will then attend three public events on December 4, including sports demonstrations at Queen Elizabeth Stadium and Victoria Park Swimming Pool in the morning, as well as a variety show at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in the afternoon.
Tickets requiring real-name registration for the three events will be available for sale on Friday via URBTIX. The three events will also be broadcast live on television for members of the public to enjoy.

The delegation will leave Hong Kong on the afternoon of Dec 5.
