Buyers from some of the world’s mostly known retail brands can easily source latest fashion products from across 1,700 booths at AsiaWorld Expo as Global Sources will open the largest fashion sourcing show in Hong Kong on April 27.

Running through April 30, this spring’s Global Sources Fashion show will feature four key categories, including fashion accessories and footwear, fashion apparel and fabrics, bags and luggage, as well as underwear and swimwear.

The show will include 800 exhibitors who accept small orders and more than 450 exhibitors who promote their own designs and brands.

The show is expected to attract verified suppliers from major fashion manufacturing hubs including the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, India, as well as ASEAN countries like Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Livia Yip, President of Global Sources Fashion Group, said: “Global Sources Fashion show facilitates the industry to transform to a sustainable, smart, healthy and trendy ecosystem. It is also a platform where buyers and exhibitors alike can network, learn and share with industry players.” This spring’s fashion show opens as the adoption of environment-friendly and recycled materials is gaining ground as global brands do their part to contribute to environmental preservation. This may prompt a number of manufacturers to explore sustainable options.

Some makers, for instance, are using recycled PET fibers for outdoor gear and even women’s leggings. Organic cotton, bamboo, modal and Tencel are popular choices while the adoption of hemp is emerging.

Buyers can source quality fashion products including athletic-leisure and performance sportswear, underwear and swimwear, bags and luggage, footwear, fashion jewelry, scarves and functional fabrics in a series of different pavilions, zones and functions of the grand show.

Expanded Bags & Luggage and Footwear pavilions will showcase the largest collection of fashion bags, backpack and luggage and footwear in Hong Kong.

The Sportswear Fashion & Activewear collection will present the largest collection of sportswear in Hong Kong with 450 booths of sports and activewear, yoga wear and functional fabrics.

Growing acceptance of athletic wear in leisure and work settings remains the key driver in the growth athleisure clothing and footwear.

The New Markets Pavilion will showcase analyst’s choice products and selected fashion products from emerging sourcing markets such as Vietnam, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Laos and Cambodia.

Educational and networking activities

Selected exhibitors will have chance to introduce their technology and trendy fashion-related products in the dedicated Fashion Tech Zone.

Technology is indeed pushing forward transformation of the fashion industry.

Technological innovations, for example, are leading to the emergence of phase-changing materials or PCMs, nano fibers and conductive polymers, which enable fabrics to measure physiological parameters such as body temperature, heart rate and blood pressure, are likewise fueling the industry’s growth.

The Fabrics to Design Competition will be a crossover among Hong Kong Design Institute graduates and fabrics exhibitors from Wujiang to showcase their creations of sports fashion.

The Young and Rising Designers Corner will provide platforms for emerging talents, fashion startups and students from fashion institutes in Hong Kong to introduce their creations.

The show will also host fashion parades that aims to showcase analyst’s choice products from selected buyers and hot designs from rising designers.

The Trend Forums will highlight color trends for spring/summer 2018 by Pantone and accessories and apparel product trends for fall/winter 2017/18 curated by Fashion Snoops.

The show will also stage a series of comprehensive conferences to cover topics ranging from trends of fashion industry and how technology transforms it.

The incorporation of anti-theft features in backpacks is, for instance, gaining popularity. Popular features include two-way GPS tracking, concealed zippers, and cut- and slash-resistant shells.

Seasonless clothing, or those apparel pieces and lines intended to be in style all throughout the year, is starting to gain a following in the world of fashion. Unlike most fast fashion labels, which offer affordable selections that are on-trend only for a short period of time, seasonless apparel caters more to the needs of the consumers instead of focusing on fleeting fashion trends, allowing customers to get more value for their money in the long term.

Special show highlights

There will also be a new Ready-to-Buy Zone with products in inventory and for delivery within 48 hours.

Suppliers who accept small orders will be indicated in booth signage, exhibition directory and the show’s mobile app.

The app will also enable buyers to take photos, make notes and follow exhibitors.

Compared to previous years, this year’s upcoming fashion embrace the age of e-commerce more proactively by offering tailored services for online and Amazon sellers to help them source more effectively.

These services include, a Welcome Center with products from exhibitors that accept small orders and the Source2Sell seminars where online retail experts will share sourcing tips and best practices.

Thousands of top buyers are expected to attend the shows including Amazon, Anteprima, Avon Cosmetics, Berlin Apparel, Carrefour, Cortefiel, Delsey, El Corte, H&M, Intimissimi, JJM Europe, Laura Ashley, Li & Fung, Marks & Spencer, Mulberry, Neil Pryde, Primark, Quiksilver, Ripley, Robinsons, Synch Shapewear, Triumph and Victoria Ann Millinery.
