BEIJING – The authorities of Beijing have offered hefty cash rewards for information on spies.
Informants can provide the tip-off using a hotline or by sending letters or visiting the state security bureau of the city
According to a policy that came into effect on Monday, Beijing citizens who will be able to provide useful information on spying are eligible for a cash reward of up to 500,000 yuan (US$72,460).
People can pass the information to the authorities through a hotline or by sending letters or visiting the state security bureau of the city.

After collating the information, the bureau can offer cash rewards ranging from 10,000 yuan to 500,000 yuan based on the usefulness of the information.
Personal information of informants will not be disclosed without their consent.
Informants can also seek protection from security authorities if they or their close relatives are in danger due to informing.

However, informants will be punished if they deliberately slander others, or invent and spread false information.
