TEHRAN -- A car carrying the crew of Iran's state TV was attacked by the Islamic State (IS) militants in the Syrian city of Al-Mayadeen on Thursday evening, state IRIB TV reported.

None of the crew members were injured despite the damage to the car caused by IS snipers, said the report.

Al-Mayadeen is one of the IS remaining strongholds southeast of Syria's Deir al-Zour.

Recently, the Syrian army and its allies have made advances in the area and besieged IS in the city of Al-Mayadeen, 45 km southeast of Deir al-Zour.
