Chinese mainland reports 18 new imported COVID-19 cases

BEIJING - The Chinese mainland reported 18 new imported cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) Friday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 888, the National Health Commission said Saturday.

The mainland also reported 11 new suspected cases, all of which were imported, the commission said in its daily report.

A total of 180 patients of the novel coronavirus disease were discharged from hospitals Friday on the Chinese mainland, according to the National Health Commission

No death had been reported from the imported cases, the commission said.

Of the cases, 190 had been discharged from the hospital after recovery, and 698 were being treated in hospital with 17 in severe conditions, said the commission.

The commission said that 114 people, all from abroad, were still suspected of being infected with the virus.  

One new COVID-19 case was reported Friday in central China's Hubei province.

The province saw four new deaths, which were all reported in the provincial capital of Wuhan on Friday.

Altogether 76,751 patients had been discharged from hospitals after recovery by the end of Friday, the commission said in its daily report Saturday.

As of Friday, a total of 81,639 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 had been reported on the mainland, and 3,326 people had died of the disease.
